If I may ask, that giant building on the left: What is that? I visited Hamburg last year and noticed this huge building when walking past. At least, if it is the building I think it is, roughly between the city center and Reeperbahn/St.Pauli? Later, I tried to find info on it but I remember only finding that is an nightclub now. I assume it it some kind of bunker from the war, but was unable to find something about it. Which surprised me, considering it's size and silhouette...

Indeed it's one of the WW2 Flak-Towers which still remain in Hamburg. All massive constructions which are (under any economic measures) indestructable...:

There are some plans to develop the tower in St.Pauli by some investors... But if you ask me... that won't be happening too soon. There is too much money to be made in St. Pauli before that would pay off.

@Roelof Pieter Yes, it's a WWII bunker. Today, it hosts the nightclub "Uebel & Gefährlich". Next time in Hamburg, you should go there. Nice view from roof-terrace. Not surprising: It was an anti-aircraft-bunker. Here more information, unfortunately only in German:

It's still a very cool place in town. But now, they want to transform it into some shitty artsy-luxury-event-gentrification-THING:

There's also a huge music store on the lowest two floors, so if you're a musician, chances are good that you come out of the bunker with much less money than you entered it with.

BTW: Wieso gibt's eigentlich ein Berlin-Forum, aber kein Hamburg-Forum?
